Been playing DDR since December 2003.. my Xmas gift to myself. I'm not as good as many people, but I have a passion for the game like few others. I can usually be found playing at Kent State's Eastway center with my girlfriend, Sugoi_Sakura. I'm the oldest player I know of in the NE Ohio area. I currently usually use 2x, and no other mods. I'm just starting to use the bar, but I don't like it. After watching my gf prove it, I have to admit for some of us, the bar allows scores not otherwise possible. With it, I AA'd a few songs that have been eluding me without it. But I still don't like the way bar-raping looks, and try to avoid it.

I'd also like to recommend everyone not take this game so seriously. Its a game. Games are supposed to be fun. I understand getting mad at yourself over a score. I do it too. We all want to push ourselves and get better. But dont be dick to others because of this game, their scores, your scores, etc. Bragging, bashing, drama, etc, gets old fast. Why ruin what could be a potential or existing friendship with petty bullshit, all over a video game?

Personal rant on mods:
I used to be the king enthusiast of so-called "DDR purism"... no mods, no bar, "the way the game was meant to be played," etc. But here's how I've come to see it: If you use mods, you're only using what they provided the game with. It's not a cheat code or a hack. If Konami made them available features of the game, then why is using them "not the way the game was meant to be played"? That's the way 1st-5th mix was meant to be played, because that's all that was available. But now, to say the same about recent mixes is like saying driving a car that you don't have to hand-crank before starting is "not driving a car the way it was intended." Mods may not have been there in the beginning, but now they are, and they are an improvement of the game in many people's opinions. So don't tell people they're playing it wrong if they choose to use 1x or 3x. It's your money. Spend it how you want, no matter what anyone says.
